8/18/2008 - Hose & equipment deployment training upon arrival on a simulate house fire. Builder allowing us to use house for training until it's torn down.
8/4/2008 - Engine/Truck equipment check outs. Firefighter meeting with Chief.
7/28/2008 - Hose operations with new members. Driver training. Chiefs discuss commercial pre incident planning.
7/7/2008 - Engine/Truck checkouts. Firefighter meeting with Chief.
6/23/2008 - Captains Drill. Went over various equipment carried on engine/trucks.
6/16/2008 - Marple Woods fire critique. Also discussed pump operations & master streams.
6/2/2008 - Engine/Truck equipment check out.
5/19/2008 - Driver/ pump operator training refresher.
5/5/2008 - Truck/Engine equipment checkouts. Also performed care training on Holmatro PPU hydraulic tools.
4/21/2008 - Flashover simulator classroom training.
4/2/2008 - Conducted prom night drill at Cardinal O'Hara using two donated cars. Simulations of vehicle extrication of eight patients and setup landing zone for PennStar to land.
3/24/2008 - Extinguishing vehicle fires across the street from firehouse. Senior members guide new members on fire attack. Firefighters in training to become drivers get pump operation practice with guidance from engineering staff. 3/3/2008 - Ventilation & breaching drill at DCCC acquired
building. Conducted roof ventilation practice on peaked roof.
Conducted exterior ventilation on second floor windows using ladders. Conducted
interior wall and door breaching training.
2/18/2008 - Oriented Search Drill at DCCC acquired building. Provided review of
oriented search/refresher
Established 4 teams. Ran 4 scenarios 4 times. Basement Search, second floor SFD
search, first floor search - left and right side.
1/28/2008 - Hose evolutions at DCCC acquired structure.
Established 1.5 inch attack line, 1.5 inch backup line
2 inch apartment pack line, 3 inch leader line to 2 inch apartment pack, 5 inch
LDH to manifold to 3 inch to 2 inch apartment pack.
Multiple scenarios in building basement, first floor, second floor and attic.
1/21/2008 - Engine Company Operations Drill at DCCC utilizing
old house. Advancing uncharged and charged lines,
Utilizing Apartment Packs, Using 3" leader lines. Using manifold with LDH and
leader line. Use of attack and backup lines
1/07/2008 - Monthly engine, rescue & truck checkouts.
12/17/2007 - Annual re-cert drill.
11/26/2007 - Review of air Monitors and Zip wall products.
11/19/2007 - Went to 911 center for training on the MDC.
10/22/2007 - Vehicle rescue with hydraulic and hand tools.
10/15/2007 - Live burn and search & rescue at Delaware County Emergency Services
Training center burn building. Firefighters used their skills to attack fire
along with search & rescue. Search for down firefighters using our tracker
device that's activated once their PASS alarm triggers on SCBA (Self Contained

09/24/2007 - Captain Dillon covers MAYDAY procedures & protocols for the fire industry and how it relates to Broomall's procedures for calling a MAYDAY.
09/17/2007 - Assistant Chief Drake covers NIMS and how it relates to BICS. (Broomall Incident Command System)
08/28/2007 - Delaware County Emergency Services come to Broomall Fire Company with their mobile search & rescue trailer. Firefighters from BFC donned their gear along with air pack and tools and go through the pitch black maze which contained confined space and other obstacles that could trap firefighters. 08/20/2007 - Discussed strategies & tactics on what we may have done different in two recent fires where four firefighters were trapped in building fire after 2nd floor collapsed on top of them. This was a local fire in Parkside where RIT team removed the four firefighters and saving their lives. Two of the fire fighters were seriously injured and will recover from their injuries. The second fire discussed was the Sofa Super Store fire that killed nine firefighters in South Carolina.
07/27/2007 - Rapid Intervention Team(RIT) training at old Marple school. Simulated a down firefighter in basement of school. Different teams performed a search to rescue down firefighter and remove him from the building.
07/16/2007 - Firefighters train on ground ladders at old Marple school. Training included discussion on safety & hazards prior to raising a ground ladder. Firefighters donned their gear and raised ladders of different sizes. Firefighters climbed ladders with tools and performing leg locks while other fire firefighters pass them on ladder with tools.
06/25/2007 - Trained on aerial placement & rescue utilizing Telesqurt & Snorkel at old Marple school.
06/18/2007 - Trained with foam operations with Brookline Fire
Company & Waterous fire pumps at Delaware County
Emergency Training Center.
05/21/2007 - Looking at new demonstration fire apparatus at BFC.
04/23/2007 - Trained on rapid search & rescue in smoke filled environment at the old Marple school.
04/16/2007 - Trained on aerial device placements for Telesqurt & Snorkel.
03/26/2007 - BFC firefighter discusses new generation air bags and alternate fuel vehicles and hybrids. Show and tell on vehicle that was provided by dealership whom he is employed by. Vehicle was taped up on where all air bag power lines and high voltage cable runs were on vehicle that was provided. This was to illustrate where car could not be cut with power rescue tools.
03/19/2007 - Outside guest speaker from PECO Energy to discuss the dangers of high voltage power lines.
03/05/2007 - Apparatus engine/truck equipment inspections and inventory.
02/26/2007 - Outside guest speaker teaches class on how to drive to survive personal vehicles along with fire apparatus.
02/19/2007 - RIT team evolutions using Llanerch fire company's smoke maze. Members donned their air packs and search smoke maze for fallen firefighters to connect their buddy breather from their air pack to fallen firefighter buddy breather and using RIT air pack connecting to the universal RIC connection on other fallen firefighter. Several teams completed this task in teams of two.

01/22/2007 - Chief Murray gives his annual state of the company address for the upcoming year.
01/15/2007 - Annual SCBA fit test for active firefighters. New members approved to wear air packs after training on them.
12/18/2006 - Bloodbourne annual refresher. Chief Murray presents ICS-100 class.
12/5/2006 - Apparatus engine/truck equipment inspections and inventory.
11/27/2006 - Air pack training at Llanerch fire company using their underground smoke maze. Members donned their packs and carrying had tolls through the maze. Some other members attend class at Radnor fire company for driver/operator certification.
11/20/2006 - Members from BFC go to DCCC and cut cars up using hydraulic cutters, spreaders @ rams. Some other members attend class at Radnor fire company for driver/operator certification.
11/6/2006 - Apparatus engine/truck equipment inspections and inventory.
10/23/2006 - Driver training: Drivers were tasked to a timed
evolution from a starting point to a stop point, stretch bumper line, charge it,
and the nozzle team to knock over a cone. All drivers did the task three times.
Several fire officers joined Radnor FD at their station for a manufacturer
presentation on hybrid cars.
10/18/2006 - Second and final part of the Emergency Elevator Operations training that started on Oct 16th. This session included a tour of the elevator plant at Broomall Rehab, their operating features, emergency door opening and power shut off.
10/16/2006 - Al Huelsenbeck of START Rescue Training, Inc presented the first of two sessions on elevator rescue.
9/18/2006 - Guest speaker, Lt. Jeff Spina of the Philadelphia Fire Dept discussing operating with a short-handed engine company
8/28/06 - Lt. McNeill explains how the ART Airshore
stabilization system works with all it's components. After explanation of
equipment, firefighters went into action in the rear of fire house to assemble
these systems to stabilize a vehicle.

7/31/06 - Drivers drill. Drivers assigned to all engines and given 5 different locations throughout the township. Drivers switched after each location. This drill was for getting drivers road time, apparatus positioning and operating pumps with preconnected hose lines. Other firefighters assisted the drivers by operating the preconnected hose lines.
07/24/06 - Firefighters assigned to Engines 53-2, 53-3 to practice Hydrant hookups with humat valve and 5 " LDH water supply line connection to hydrant valve & engine intake. Performed master stream deck gun operations. Evolutions were performed throughout Marple Township.
07/17/06 - Played NFPA trivia pursuit game. Chief Drake split firefighters in teams of two and asked the questions to the different teams.
06/26/06 - Captains drill, Randomly had firefighters find different pieces of equipment selected by Captain that are carried on apparatus and explain location where they found it and use & operation of equipment to other firefighters.
06/21/06 - National safety stand down night. Lecture by Chiefs for safe driving of fire apparatus and use of seat belts on why we need to wear them.
06/19/06 - Ground ladder drill utilizing 24' & 35' extension ladders. Drill included raising, carrying, climbing with tools and passing other firefighters up & down the ladder.
05/27/06 - Live burn at West Chester Fire Department training center. Perform Engine/Truck operations. Evolutions included search & rescue in smoke/heat conditions. First & second floor fire attack. Performed ventilation, hose management, victim removal from burn building, ground ladder placement & aerial tower operations and master stream placement.
05/22/06 - Practice drill on rigging stokes basket, using
Snorkel53 as a boom device for rescue operations. Also covered operator stations
for breathing air, system generator, pump operations and various types of
ladders carried on Snorkel53.
05/15/06 - Chief Murray explains Snorkel53 operations as an aerial device, water
tower, aerial rescue and apparatus positioning of Snorkel53 at Fire/Rescue
location.
04/26/06 - Assistant Chief Drake
hosted a foam demonstration in Old Marple School parking lot across from the
fire house. A few members from the fire house assisted in flowing water along
with the foam concentrate.

04/24/06 - BFC firefighters using basic
hand & electric tools & irons to disassemble vehicle .

Firefighters from the following companies training at PECO fire academy. Members
from Broomall, Springfield, Swarthmore, Rose Tree, Newtown Square & King of
Prussia battle to extinguish propane tank fire. Members are training to prepare
for Fire Fighter II certification.
